🌳 Ride to Joypur Forest — Through Heat, History & Harmony
Exploring the lush green canopy and hidden war relics of Bankura, West Bengal
🛣️ Date of Ride: A Scorching July Day, When Passion Outrode the Heat
In the sweltering heart of a July afternoon, when most would seek shelter from the sun, the riders of Chetak Motorcycle Club (CMC) chose to embrace the warmth of the road and the thrill of discovery. With engines humming and spirits soaring, we set out on a ride to the mystical Joypur Forest, located in Bankura district, West Bengal, with a special destination in mind — the abandoned World War II airstrip, a forgotten chapter of history nestled deep within nature.

🌲 Into the Wild — Joypur Forest Beckons

Joypur Forest is a vibrant patch of green, home to rich biodiversity, winding village paths, and a sense of quiet solitude. The route leading into the forest was a rider's delight — flanked by towering sal trees, chirping birds, and occasional glimpses of spotted deer and wild hares.
As the group navigated through dusty roads and shaded trails, there was a collective sense of being transported — not just away from the city, but back in time.

🛬 The Forgotten Airstrip — Echoes of a War Long Past

Hidden within the dense embrace of the forest lies a near-forgotten relic: a World War II-era airstrip, once used by British and Allied forces for supply drops and strategic movements. Now silent and overgrown, the airstrip stands as a hauntingly beautiful reminder of the past.
Riding onto the weathered tarmac felt surreal. Our bikes rolled where once aircraft had landed under the shadow of war. We paused, walked along the cracked runway, and imagined the thunder of engines above and the urgency of a world at war.
For many of us, this was more than a ride. It was a moment of reflection — on peace, history, and how even the most powerful footprints fade when nature reclaims her space.
🔥 Riding Through Heat with Brotherhood
The July heat was unforgiving, but CMC rides are never about comfort — they’re about commitment. Helmets soaked with sweat, jackets weighed down by humidity — yet no one complained. Every throttle twist was powered by camaraderie and curiosity.
Frequent hydration stops, group laughter, and shared snacks under trees turned the ride into a true team effort. New members were welcomed, seasoned riders guided the way, and each moment felt like another memory stitched into the legacy of CMC.

📸 Capturing Time — Through Lenses and Hearts

The airstrip, the forest, the narrow forest trails — everything was picture-perfect. Cameras clicked, drones flew, and yet the most powerful snapshots were taken by our minds and hearts.
Each rider left with more than photographs; they carried stories, silence, and the scent of wild earth on their gear.
🙏 Gratitude & Respect
We express our heartfelt thanks to:
-
Local forest authorities and residents for their warm welcome and guidance.
-
Our ride captains and marshals for ensuring safety and smooth navigation.
-
Every CMC member who proved once again that brotherhood is the real engine of any journey.

🏁 Final Thoughts

As the sun dipped behind the sal trees and the golden light bathed our path home, we looked back at a forest that holds both life and legacy.
“We ride not just to move forward, but to connect with the stories behind and around us.”
